About Megalodon

Megalodon (Otodus megalodon), meaning "big tooth", is an extinct species of mackerel shark that lived approximately 23 to 3.6 million years ago (mya), during the Early Miocene to the Pliocene. It was formerly thought to be a member of the family Lamnidae and a close relative of the great white shark (Carcharodon carcharias). However, it is now classified into the extinct family Otodontidae, which diverged from the great white shark during the Early Cretaceous. Its genus placement is still debated, authors placing it in either Carcharocles, Megaselachus, Otodus, or Procarcharodon. This is because transitional fossils have been found showing that megalodon is the final chronospecies of a lineage of giant sharks originally of the genus Otodus which evolved during the Paleocene.[1]

In Game

Megalodon is one of the best and most useful legendary creatures in your aquatic park. With 716 attack, only Kronosaurus does more damage. Its relatively low health holds it back compared to the other surfaces, such as Kaiwhekea and Styxosaurus, but it is also an advantage. A general trend within the game is that the more health it has, the more it takes to cool down. While Kaiwhekea takes around 8 hour to cool down, Megalodon takes around 5 hours and 40 minutes. This means that while the tankier surfaces are cooling down, Megalodon can be used more frequently. However, it should only be used to fight cave creatures and only fight other surfaces as a last resort. Fighting reefs is a death sentence for the Megalodon, as they can take it down in only two good hits.
