About Acrocanthosaurus

Acrocanthosaurus, meaning "high-spined lizard," is a genus of theropod dinosaur that existed in what is now North America during the Aptian and early Albian stages of the Early Cretaceous. Like most dinosaur genera, Acrocanthosaurus contains only a single species, A. atokensis. Its fossil remains are found mainly in the U.S. states of Oklahoma, Texas, and Wyoming, although teeth attributed to Acrocanthosaurus have been found as far east as Maryland.[1]

In Game

Acrocanthosaurus was made available in Jurassic World: The Game on November 3, 2017, as a legendary carnivore exclusive to VIP members. However as of October 9, 2020 it has been moved to the solid gold pack and therefore can be obtained by non-VIPs as well.

Trivia

  • Since the Acrocanthosaurus uses the Spinosaurus animation rig, it causes a contradiction with its final trivia. It is supposed to have short arms, but the Spinosaurus skeleton requires it to have long arms.
  • Acrocanthosaurus was first mentioned in one of the evolution facts for Metriacanthosaurus before physically appearing in the game.
